Mortalidad por accidente cerebro vascular en la población del estado de rio grande do sul, brasil: Estudio de tendencia temporal

Cerebrovascular diseases are among the leading causes of death worldwide and the first cause in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The objective was to analyze the time trend and mortality rate from stroke in the adult population of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, from 2000 to 2021. This is an ecological time series study, with data obtained from the database of the Informatics Department of the Unified Health System (Datasus). Jointpoint regression models were applied to analyze the time trend. The mortality rate from stroke in adults in Rio Grande do Sul was stable throughout the period from 2000 to 2021, except for the segment from 2019 to 2021, a period marked by an increase in the mortality rate in the 40-69 age group. The analyses, both of overall death and percentage variation, maintained a pattern, highlighting the female sex as the group with the highest mortality. Concluding that from 2000 to 2021, the state of Rio Grande do Sul remained stable, with a predominantly female epidemiological profile in older age groups.
