The Lighthouse: An Investigation of Canadian Academic Freedom

The Lighthouse seeks to investigate the current state of Canadian academic freedom. Drawing from the work of Dr. Mark Mercer, Dr. Jeff Noonan, and Dr. Tony Couture, this paper proposes an ideal framework to assist in understanding the importance of preserving a liberal academic world built on tenets of practical anarchism and parrhesia. Lastly, this paper analyses contemporary case studies, emphasising the need to distinguish the academic world from the public to maintain a space open to bold ideas and criticism.
