La Regulación Normativa Frente al Contenido de Programas Emitidos en Señal Abierta en el Perú
The media represent one of the main influences on the social, cultural, and educational development of children. Television, as a mass and easily accessible medium, exposes children and adolescents to content that can be harmful to their emotional, social, and cognitive development. Television is one of the main sources of entertainment in Peruvian households, but it also poses a risk when it exposes children and adolescents to inappropriate content. This article analyzes the current regulatory framework in Peru regarding content broadcast during family hours by open signal channels, focusing on the case of América Televisión. The analysis is based on the thesis titled "The Protection of Children and Adolescents in Television Programs of Channel 4 – América Televisión Broadcast During Family Hours, in the APROVISA Housing Association - San Juan Bautista District", which employed an empirical (experimental) and positivist approach. Surveys were conducted with children and adolescents, and the results revealed that the existing regulations are insufficient to ensure effective protection for minors against the content of television programs broadcast on open signal channels. The findings highlight the need to strengthen monitoring and sanctioning mechanisms. It is concluded that protecting children from inappropriate television content requires joint action by the State, the media, and families.
