La investigación educativa en la formación inicial docente desde la escuela normal

Normal schools are responsible for providing students with the foundations for a solid teaching education, enabling them to face the challenges of the educational context and effectively carry out their pedagogical work. To achieve this, they must contribute to the development of knowledge and skills in educational research that allow them to address their needs. The objective of this study was to reveal the meanings that students have constructed and assigned to educational research from their initial teacher training process. Using the method of symbolic interactionism, two focus groups were formed with a total of 16 students, and tools such as 57 online questionnaires and six in-depth interviews were used, applied to teachers and students enrolled in the Federal Urban Normal School of the Isthmus. The results revealed the little importance that educational research has, and the ignorance that the students themselves have about it in their training.
