La educación fiscal en Ecuador: Un estudio descriptivo-documental caso de estudio Coordinación Zonal 5 de educación
This descriptive-documentary scientific article aims to analyze the current state of public (fiscal) education in Ecuador, with a specific focus on Coordination Zone 5, which includes the provinces of Los Ríos, Bolívar, Santa Elena, and part of Guayas. The research is based on a systematic review of official reports from the Ministry of Education, national educational statistics, and peer-reviewed academic literature published in high-impact journals indexed in Q1 and Q2. Through this comprehensive analysis, the study identifies key developments in terms of student enrollment, inclusive education for learners with special needs, teacher professionalization, and the reinforcement of community participation in school management processes. Findings suggest that while public policies have improved access to education and promoted inclusivity, significant challenges remain regarding educational quality, the physical condition of school infrastructure, the digital divide, and the lack of ongoing professional development for teachers. Furthermore, although citizen engagement in educational governance has increased, it still requires institutional strengthening and the development of participatory capacities among community stakeholders. The study concludes that the fiscal education system in Coordination Zone 5 demands a structural redesign tailored to the socio-economic and cultural realities of the territory. It emphasizes the need for sustainable and equitable educational policies that promote meaningful learning, institutional efficiency, and social justice. Public education must not only ensure access but also provide dignified and transformative educational experiences capable of reducing inequality and empowering local communities.
