La accesibilidad cognitiva de la ciudad monumental de Cáceres desde la Terapia Ocupacional

Universal accessibility (UA) poses challenges to heritage tourist destinations, such as the Monumental City of Cáceres (CMCC). From the social sciences, specifically occupational ther-apy and sociology, one of the fundamental problems of these tourist destinations is to make them accessible to everyone. The work we present, derived from the doctoral thesis of María Teresa Rubio Cabezas, aims to offer, based on a case study, a model for evaluating the cognitive accessibility of a heritage environment. This article shows the documentary analysis and the research strategy of this part of the thesis, which involved experts in tourism in the city. The result was that, as expected, the design of accessibility in this case is considered in a restrictive way, almost exclusively focused on architectural barriers, leaving obvious areas for improve-ment at other levels of UA that particularly affect people with cognitive disabilities.
