Investigating Quantum Capture Probabilities for α − α Fusion Using Quantum Trajectories

A unipolar synthetic quantum trajectory method (QTM) was used to calculate the quantum capture probabilities for the simulation of beryllium-8 formation resulting from alpha-alpha particle fusion with various values of the incident energy. The QTM approach was used in one dimension with calculations performed using the quantum stationary Hamilton-Jacobi equation (QSHJE). The São Paulo Potential (SPP) provided by B.V. Carlson was the nuclear model used to simulate the interaction between the two nuclei. A theoretical analysis of the underlying concepts, the functioning algorithms in Mathematica used for their application, and the numerical stability and limitations of the results are presented. Additionally, preliminary work with a symmetric Eckart-A Barrier is discussed.
