Integración de los ODS en el aprendizaje de Diseño Industrial y Arquitectura
The United Nations has expressed concern about the current environmental and social situation on our planet. As a result, they have outlined goals aimed at eradicating problems that hinder the growth of our society and the preservation of the planet. These goals involve every individual, company, and institution by promoting and implement-ing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) created as part of the 2030 Agenda. The purpose is to instill this mindset and generate real actions that ensure significant change.Building on this idea, while it is important for individuals to transform their habits and customs in everyday life, it is equally crucial to encourage a paradigm shift in higher edu-cation. As academic educators of industrial designers and architects, we are concerned with the professional performance of our students, considering that they play a significant role in the development of projects in various fields. These fields not only involve the con-sumption of materials and the use of polluting processes, but also the way their proposals can meet needs with a greater social impact. By introducing them to the opportunities they have to create through the SDGs, and concepts such as the life cycle, circular de-sign, biomimicry, eco-design, and the MET Matrix, we enhance the capacity of industrial designers and architects to tackle complex challenges with a sustainable approach. The implementation of these tools in projects not only improves environmental impact but also ensures solutions that provide social benefits. This approach can be applied not only in academic projects but throughout their professional lives. By analyzing the SDGs and sustainable design methodologies, which will be synthesized to provide a better understanding, students will gain a comprehensive view and be made aware of the global crisis in which we are currently involved.
