Implementation of sensor and information support in the intelligence system in the interests of fire support of units (subunits) of the ground forces
The experience of combat operations during the repulsion of Russian military aggression shows that the effectiveness of the use of fire support forces and assets, including the ground component (missile forces and artillery), largely depends on the availability of timely, reliable, accurate, and comprehensive intelligence information about enemy targets, enemy groupings, their operational structure, and probable nature of actions – in other words, on the effective execution of intelligence tasks by reconnaissance units and subunits. The purpose of this article is to develop a synchronization scheme for command and control cycles and to formulate the main tasks of the sensor-information support (SIS) center at relevant stages of operation, based on the analysis of the functioning processes of sensor-information support in the intelligence system for the benefit of fire support. The SIS cycle is an integrated process involving the use of detection and observation tools (sensors) to ensure the collection of information and intelligence data for planning and coordinating combat operations, as well as for providing effective fire support. The SIS cycle includes the execution of certain measures: assigning tasks to reconnaissance units and assets, coordinating the deployment of units, collecting information from units and assets, consolidating and conducting initial analysis of the collected information, and transmitting intelligence information according to established rules and requests. An analysis of the functioning processes of SIS within the intelligence system for fire support has been conducted. A synchronization scheme for command and control cycles has been proposed, and the main tasks of the SIS center within the intelligence system for the fire support of our troops have been formulated.
