Integrating Blockchain Technology in Healthcare Delivery\nServices: A Cybernetics Perspective

Blockchain technology (BT) is touted as having evolved to help safeguard digital records due to its tamper-proof feature. Perhaps an advanced technology to stem the tide in securing sensitive health records and infrastructure, BT deployment also comes with its own challenges relative to data confidentiality, integrity and availability (CIA). Using the CIA-triad, this study invokes the cybernetics concept to synthesize the need for effective integration of secure blockchain integration in the healthcare ecosystems. Responses from 200 health and allied health professionals were collected and analysed using Partial Least Square and Structural Equation Modelling. The study found that, the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of secure medical information have a positive correlation with blockchain integration in healthcare delivery services. The study findings imply that the integration of blockchain technology into healthcare delivery systems is capable of enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery, particularly the exchange of medical records and information.
