Förändringar i skolmiljö i takt med digitalisering
In today's day and age electronics are always available. People use their computers daily, and their mobile phones are always close by. We live in a digitalized society. High school students have access to computers and mobile phones everyday at school. They can be used as a digital tool, however they can also be a distraction for learning and interactions. Because of mobile phones and computers easy accessibility they offer another world at the touch of our fingertips. This thesis purpose is to study how in this digitalized society, easy access to mobile phones and computers might contribute to changes when it comes to interactions in school environments. Our aim is to study high school students and teachers perspectives on how mobile phones and computers affect students interactions at school. Through semi-structured qualitative interviews done with both high school students and high school teachers, we want to understand the effects of mobile phones and computers when it comes to interactions, not how it effects learning. The results are analyzed with Giddens theory about disembeddening, and Mead's theoretical framework of social action and “I and me”. In conclusion this study showed that that both students and teachers have similar and different opinions about digitalizations effects on interactions in school. However, the main result was that most of the individuals that were interviewed expressed that mobile phones and computers overall had a positive effect on school environments. Mobile phones and computers can as a tool have positive effects on inclusions and interactions. However the presence of digital aids also results in challenges with exclusion and interactions.
