Flexibilidad cognitiva y su repercusión en el control inhibitorio
Cognitive flexibility and inhibitory control are key executive functions for effective learning, as they allow individuals to adapt the new challenges and regulate responses in complex situations. The objective of this study was to analyze the level of cognitive flexibility and its impact on inhibitory control in students aged 9 to 12 years old. The research approach was quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional. The sample consisted of 131 students from public (n=103) and private (n=28) schools. Inside the obtained results, it was evident that 66% of students exhibited normal standards, and 34% showed higher levels of cognitive flexibility, with no records of low scores. However, in inhibitory control, an exceptionally lowlevel predominated (26.7%), followed by 24.4% at a low level, indicating difficulties in inhibiting automatic responses and greater impulsivenessin executing complex tasks. Although significant correlations were found between some subcategories, no direct relationship between the variables under study was evidenced. In conclusion, the results showed that moststudents demonstrated adequate cognitive skills, although several of them showed difficulties in impulse control.
