Elementos del mapa del delito: Ubicación de hot spots e integración de información espacial relacionada con el fenómeno criminal
The crime map consists of a process that uses Geographic Information Systems to conduct a spatial analysis of the criminal phenomenon and other associated problems. Crimes do not occur randomly and are concentrated in a very small number of places, called hot spots, which also highlight specific social and contextual characteristics of these places. The crime map is a useful tool for environmental criminology that seeks to estimate relationships between the environment and the criminal phenomenon, and also for the police to develop strategies that maximize the effectiveness of patrolling by focusing on hot spots understood as geographical micro units of high crime.
