Energieffektivitetsförbättringsuppskattare : Designande och konstruktion av en energieffektivitetsförbättringsuppskattare med hjälp av Java
This report will present the creation and investigation of the accuracy of a building energy efficiency improvement estimator, for the purpose of studying how consumption can be estimated in an efficient manner. This was deemed sufficiently important since one of the key limitations for implementing energy saving measures is uncertainty about their viability. It involved designing a domain-specific system composed of multiple interacting components, developed using different software paradigms and programming languages. Research in this area has gained increasing attention, particularly in efforts to reduce wasted energy. However, the specific question “How accurately can a model-driven, heuristics-based system estimate the energy efficiency improvements resulting from various measures in an apartment building?” has not been answered. Most prior work has focused either on large-scale energy simulations or on comprehensive physics-based models. More specifically, this project investigated how well a heuristics-based, model-driven system could estimate the consumption of four major resources: building heating, hot water, electricity, and water. The evaluation was conducted using three real-world test cases. In general, the system was able to predict consumption within a ±20% margin. However, in cases where key influencing factors were not captured by the model or where benchmark values were inaccurate, the deviations were significantly larger. These results demonstrate that such a system can be useful in applications where the general conditions are known, edge cases can be anticipated, and perfect accuracy is not required. In such cases, the reduced resource requirements may justify the trade-off in precision when compared to more detailed simulation approaches.
