El uso de la narrativa digital para desarrollar habilidades de comprensión lectora en educación básica

This article, titled "The use of digital narrative as a resource to enhance reading comprehension skills in basic education," conducts a thorough analysis of the positive influence of technologi-cal tools on improving the reading skills of students in basic education. Digital narrative, which innovatively integrates visual, textual, and auditory elements, has emerged as a highly promising pedagogical strategy to capture students' attention and enrich their understanding, thereby en-hancing their reading abilities, which are essential for achieving both academic and personal goals. The research was conducted comprehensively, combining quantitative and qualitative data col-lection techniques in a balanced manner. A total of 120 basic education students participated in the study, divided into two groups: an experimental group that utilized digital narrative tools and a control group that followed traditional teaching methods. Over a six-month academic period, the experimental group used digital platforms such as StoryJumper, Book Creator, and Padlet for creating and analyzing interactive narratives, whereas the control group focused on traditional readings and writing activities. The study results revealed that the experimental group experi-enced a significant average increase of 30% in reading comprehension test scores, compared to the modest 15% improvement observed in the control group. Surveys conducted with students from different educational institutions showed that a high percentage, specifically 85%, found digital narrative highly motivating and very useful for their learning process. Meanwhile, teach-ers participating in the study significantly highlighted the ability of digital narrative to foster not only critical thinking but also creativity in the classroom. Qualitative analysis revealed that the use of digital narratives not only contributed significantly to the development of reading com-prehension but also greatly promoted collaboration among participants and the expression of individual creativity. However, the study identified significant challenges, such as a lack of spe-cialized teacher training in implementing technological tools and disparities in access to techno-logical devices in rural and remote areas. In summary, digital narrative stands out as a highly effective tool for fostering and enhancing reading comprehension skills in early education stu-dents, especially when integrated with inclusive pedagogical strategies and a student-centered learning approach. It is recommended to broaden the scope of research to explore its feasibility in various educational settings and academic levels, ensuring equal opportunities for access to technology.
