Diagnóstico de las condiciones del cultivo de papa en el municipio de Chocontá, Colombia y su relación con la sostenibilidad

The Municipality of Chocontá is the largest potato producer in Colombia. However, the quality of the soil and crop has been affected by the use of chemical fertilizers and environmental contamination that aggravate the physicochemical properties of the tuber and thus the health of consumers due to the presence of heavy metals and chemical substances that accumulate in the soil. For this reason, this research determined the current environmental, social and economic conditions of potato production based on the characterization of the crop in the region through a technical product sheet. The cleaner production strategies for the improvement of soil resource and agricultural crops through the valorization of agricultural residues were characterized. It became evident that the potato crop is affected by the contamination generated by the accumulation of heavy metals and climate change with the use of chemical products, which implies the proposal of a cleaner production strategy to enhance the potato crop and agricultural activity in the region.
