Depresión en adolescentes escolarizados asociada a algunos factores psicosociales en cinco poblaciones de Antioquia¹
The mental health of children and youth populations has been a priority in the research and extension agendas of public and private entities responsible for public health administration and care. In this context, an interdisciplinary group of professors from the National School of Public Health at the Universidad de Antioquia have taken an interest in developing impactful research aimed at diagnosing and mitigating risk factors associated with mental health problems in this population. Specifically, studies have been designed to identify factors associated with depression. Using a multiple linear regression model and following the recommendations of the Faculty’s ethics committee, six random samples were selected from different localities in the department of Antioquia. The results indicate that depression is associated with the risk of suicide, family functioning, student gender, and certain subconstructs of family vulnerability. In conclusion, depression is a multi-causal mental health problem that affects the adolescent population in school.
