Cuidados paliativos: ducação permanente para a equipe de enfermagem de um hospital de referência no Rio Grande do Sul
This methodological study was conducted through the Graduate Program in Health Education at UFCSPA and describes the development, validation, and evaluation of a Distance Learning (DL) course on Palliative Care, aimed at enhancing the qualifications of the nursing team at a referral hospital in Rio Grande do Sul. Conducted between November 2023 and February 2025, the study followed methodological steps widely referenced in the literature for the development and validation of educational technologies in health, including material construction, content validation by experts, and application of the Content Validity Index for Health Education (IVCES). The course evaluation was conducted based on the first two levels of the Kirkpatrick Model (reaction and learning), utilizing pre-and post-intervention questionnaires. The course attained an overall Content Validity Index (CVI) of 0.88. Among the 171 enrolled professionals, 35 completed the course, achieving an average success rate of 94.74% and an average completion time of 51 minutes. Improvements were noted in 7 out of the 8 assessed items, with particular gains in the domains of pain management, multiprofessional care, and the core principles of palliative care. Work overload and technological limitations were identified as the primary barriers to course completion. The study concludes that the course represents a feasible continuing education strategy, with the potential to enhance technical knowledge and promote awareness of humanized care practices, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals “Good Health and Well-Being” and “Quality Education.”
