Costa Rica y la Próxima Ola Tecnológica: ¿Estamos Preparados para el Futuro del Trabajo?

This article examines global and local trends in automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and brain-computer interfaces, with a special focus on Costa Rica. Through a qualitative approach based on documentary review, it analyzes how these technologies are transforming the labor landscape, generating both opportunities and challenges related to employability, training, and equity. The findings show that Costa Rica faces structural and cultural barriers to adopting emerging technologies, limiting its ability to adapt to the new global labor environment. Furthermore, inequalities in digital access, particularly in rural areas and vulnerable groups, are evident. Finally, public policy and business recommendations are proposed to promote an inclusive digital transformation that prioritizes continuous training and the reduction of technological gaps.
