Complejidad Económica de los Principales Municipios de Veracruz
The theory of economic complexity serves as an analytical tool for assessing economic performance by examining the underlying skills and technical capabilities inherent within a country or region. The state of Veracruz holds national significance due to its demographic weight and economic importance. Nonetheless, substantial internal disparities persist. This study aims to estimate the variables of diversity and ubiquity through the application of the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) methodology, utilizing employment data from the 14 most economically significant municipalities in the state, which collectively account for approximately 50% of Veracruz’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The findings indicate that the municipalities of Veracruz, Boca del Río, Coatzacoalcos, and Xalapa exhibit the highest levels of economic diversity and the lowest levels of ubiquity, thereby positioning themselves as the most competitive within the state. This analysis offers valuable insights into the design of territorial development strategies and the formulation of differentiated public policies.
