Cartografía Participativa y Conflicto Socioambiental: Experiencias de trabajo con comunidades rurales en Costa Rica (2014-2019)
The article examines Participatory Cartography as a methodological tool in rural communities in Costa Rica facing socio-environmental conflicts (2014-2019). From a Popular Education perspective, it reviews academic outputs such as reports, methodological booklets, and atlases, generated by the Kioscos Socioambientales Program at the University of Costa Rica. Through a documentary review and analysis of experiences, four specific cases in indigenous and peasant communities are explored. The research seeks to answer the question: Why use Participatory Cartography in these contexts? It concludes that this technique facilitates collective knowledge construction, systematization of conflicts, and socio-environmental advocacy, fostering community organizational strengthening.
