A Cache at the Merchant’s House. New Evidence of Robbery in Ur III Texts?
Two Ur III tablets edited by the author in 2019 deal with a complex trial of tomb robbers, probably held during the reign of king Amar-Suen. New photographs of tablet SAT 2, 2082, provided by the Yale Peabody Museum, have allowed a keyword in the text to be reinterpreted. This new study suggests a plausible connection of its contents with additional investigations involving the merchant Lu-diĝira in the robbery of the tomb of Lugal-pa’e.
