Aesthetic sustainability and STEAM education at museums
This article explores how STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) conducted in collaboration between upper secondary schools and museums can contribute to museums’ sustainability agendas, with particular attention to the emerging concept of aesthetic sustainability. Drawing on empirical data gathered from qualitative follow-up research conducted within the two-year Danish development project STEAM at Museums (2023-2025), the authors investigate how museums functioned as arenas for interdisciplinary, practice-oriented learning, and how museum educators experienced and developed new pedagogical strategies through this work.
