Recente ontwikkelingen in groepspsychotherapie en een blik op de toekomst

This contribution highlights the recent history of Dutch group psychotherapy through three events. The events are the online publication of the Group Treatment Practice Guidelines (2019), the publication of the new Group Psychotherapy Textbook (2022) and the decision of the NVGP board in 2023 to adopt the interpersonal frame of reference as a second frame of reference in addition to the group dynamics frame of reference established in 2004. These events, of course, do not stand alone but show a certain affinity. It is at least plausible that the publication of the American Clinical Practice Guidelines for Group Psychotherapy in 2007 provided significant impetus to a process that led to the three events mentioned. The significance of the events implies that a further theoretical and clinically practical regulation (“norming”) has taken place, which benefits the task orientation (“performing”) of group practitioners and the NVGP as a specialist psychotherapeutic professional association in terms of accountability.
