phenomenes climatiques extremes : essai d’etude des risques cotiers du littoral togolais selon la methode de matrice des risques climatiques de cobon et al., 2009

Togo’s coastline, located between 6°06′ and 6°15′ North latitude and 1°00′ and 1°45′ East longitude, is at risk of erosion, pollution and flooding. Thus, to assess and analyze the level of impact of these risks and the vulnerability of the population, the climate risk matrix method (Cobon et al., 2009) was used. The assessment of the actual impacts of risks on the physical and human environment (water resources, populations, agriculture and transport) through the impact matrix shows a high level of impact of erosion, pollution and flooding on the population. To reduce the vulnerability of the population with regard to the level of impact, more sustainable measures based on endogenous adaptation strategies have been proposed. These are the installation of ears or breakwaters, the resettlement of the population, the recharge of the beach, the construction of wells and boreholes, the supply of drinking water, the construction of wastewater treatment plant, the extension of sewers to the sea, the construction of public latrines, the reduction of industrial discharges, the use of organic products for agriculture and the collection of household waste.
