Prevalence of Concussions by Positions in Division 1 Football Teams

Understanding and preventing concussions in football has made significant progress over the years. However, it remains crucial to examine whether certain positions or positional groups have a higher prevalence of concussions. To explore this, two Division 1 universities were surveyed to assess the number of concussions sustained during the 2024 season. An analysis was conducted to identify which position, or positional group had the highest concussion rates. The results indicated that wide receivers were most frequently affected, with one school reporting three out of nine concussions in this position, while the other recorded four out of nine. By analyzing this data, the goal is to enhance protection for wide receivers and all players on the field.
