Optimal design and test research on heat dissipation of field modulated permanent magnetic gear heat pipes based on phase-change cooling principle

ObjectiveIn response to the problems of easy wear and tear, difficult heat dissipation of the dual rotor air gap mechanical structure, the impact on the operational stability of field modulated magnetic gears (FMMGs), and considering the limitations of FMMG structure under general air cooling conditions, an efficient heat dissipation scheme based on the phase-change cooling heat pipe was proposed.MethodsFocusing on the heat dissipation problem of the modulated ring (output rotor) and taking a 132 kW FMMG as the research object, by integrating heat pipe heat dissipation method into the modulated ring, an air-cooled heat pipe heat dissipation structure was formed. The effectiveness of this scheme was verified through a combination of simulation and tests. Firstly, a flow field model of the FMMG under the general air-cooling condition was established, and the internal flow field of the FMMG was simulated and analyzed. Secondly, the structure of the heat pipe heat dissipation and the modulated ring were optimized according to the loss situation, and the heat dissipation effect of the modulated ring before and after installing the heat pipe was compared through simulation. Finally, the test verification was carried out, and the technology was applied to the engineering prototype.ResultsThe research shows that the heat pipe technology based on the principle of phase-change cooling can efficiently dissipate heat from the modulated ring, effectively reduce the temperature by 9 ℃ of the modulated ring under the same working conditions. It can be considered as a space-intensive heat dissipation scheme, effectively improving the operational stability of FMMG.
