Exploring dynamics of foreignness ::the case of foreign subsidiaries in South Korea
This study focuses on how multinational subsidiaries deal with foreignness and the assets they leverage to gain a competitive advantage. We conducted a multiple case study of seven subsidiaries of European MNEs operating in South Korea. Our findings reveal how liabilities of foreignness might persist and how subsidiary managers leverage assets of foreignness, which in turn influence the development of subsidiary capabilities. Examining the dynamics of foreignness, our study contributes to the research on foreignness in general and to research on subsidiary management in particular.
