Coping With Acute Malnutrition. Dispositional Optimism, Social Integration and Household Decision-Making Styles

What are the cognitive micro-foundations of acute malnutrition? I suggest that dispositional optimism and social integration are important, additional covariates in Amartya Sen's seminal analysis of the 1943 famine in what is today the Indian state of West Bengal. I employ an innovative mix of modeling and survey-experimental research methods to make explicit the pathways to acute malnutrition, contributing to a paradigm-shift towards timelier early warning
