Core classes, incidences in Catholic University students social and Christian commitment
The UNICAH Seal Classes, as their name indicates, aim to leave a “seal” on the life and commitments made by students, who display difficulties in assuming stable and transforming commitments. There are investigations that propose a change in the curriculum of these subjects, so that they can achieve their goal, other studies rescue the contribution of these subjects. The present paper tries to analyze the incidence of the Seal Classes in the Catholic University of Honduras in the Christian and social commitment that the students assume. It is a mixed investigation, quantitatively the data was collected through a Likert scale test validated by three experts in the area. From the 1,250 students, the instrument was applied to 623 students, chosen from those who had enrolled in one of the 8 Seal Classes offered during the second term of 2022. The test consisted of 25 general and 10 specific questions. For research in the qualitative area, a focus group was held with seal Classes teachers from the campus, organized the questions into 5 topics related to the variables. The results indicate that: (76.1%) of the students perceive that the Seal Classes are relevant, they are oriented towards comprehensive training (83.5%), their contents lead to commitment (77.1%), as well as their methodology (74.4%), based on training of values (76.2%), and ethics (85.4%). It highlights the role of teachers in the transmission of values towards commitment. For a general average, H3 is verified: Seal Classes have an incidence on some of the UNICAH students. An update of the corresponding curriculum is recommended.
