Патріотизм як соціокультурний феномен: досвід різних країн і український історіографічний вимір

The relevance of the research. Patriotism remains an important sociocultural phenomenon that determines peoples' identity, ensures national unity and society's resilience to the challenges of globalization. Patriotism plays a central role in shaping civic consciousness and protecting national interests in the modern world, where the processes of intercultural integration, information influence, and hybrid threats are growing. For Ukraine, which is amid the war, the issue of patriotism has become critical as a factor of social cohesion, restoration of national identity, and countering aggression. Studying the experience of other countries helps to better understand the peculiarities of patriotism in the Ukrainian context, and the historiographical dimension makes it possible to assess its evolution in different historical periods. The purpose of the study is to analyze patriotism as a sociocultural phenomenon on the example of different countries, with an emphasis on its formation, functioning, and impact on society. Conclusions. Experience shows that patriotism can take different forms depending on historical, cultural, and political circumstances: In the United States, patriotism is focused on civic values, ideals of freedom and democracy. In France, it is based on national statehood and republicanism. In Israel, patriotism is closely linked to the defense of the state and religious and cultural heritage. In Ukraine, patriotism has historically been shaped by the struggle for independence, national culture, and language. Ukrainian historiography highlights how patriotism was a driving force during liberation movements, the fight against colonialism, and, in the modern context, in the confrontation with Russian aggression. Today, Ukrainian patriotism unites citizens around the idea of protecting statehood, territorial integrity, and European values. Ukraine actively uses patriotic rhetoric in public policy, education, culture, and media. The historiographic approach allows us to assess historical aspects and formulate strategic decisions for the further development of patriotic education. Patriotism is a powerful sociocultural phenomenon that affects all spheres of public life. The Ukrainian experience confirms that patriotism is a key factor in strengthening national identity, mobilizing society against external threats, and restoring statehood. The experience of other countries, analysis of historiography, and current challenges show that the formation of patriotism is a dynamic process that requires a systematic approach and support from the state and civil society.
