S. Horovitz, Yunan Felsefesinin Kelâma Etkisi
The author, Saul Horovitz, analyzes the influence of Greek philosophy on kalām in four main chapters, and in each chapter he discusses the subject by referring to the prominent theologians in that field. In the first part of the work, the place of Stoic philosophy in theological thought is explained; in the second part, the influence of the Platonists on the thought of the theologians is evaluated; in the third part, how Plato's Sophist is understood by the theologians is explained; and in the last part, the meaning structure of the concept of tawallaḍ is explained. Saul Horovitz's work opens new horizons for readers to better understand Jewish philosophy as well as Islamic theology. This work shows how and in what way Greek philosophy, which entered the Islamic world as a result of translation activities and conquests, influenced kalām. While showing this influence, the author both conveys the views of the theologians who played a leading role in the period and informs the reader by quoting from various sources. This work provides references for researchers in terms of the influence of Greek philosophy on kalām in terms of creating a field of study by creating separate titles for both individuals and systems of thought.
