Seeing Need: Knowledge Production and Reality in Humanitarian Practice
This study investigates enactments of humanitarian need in knowledge production processes with the aim of identifying possibilities beyond hegemonic humanitarianism. Starting in the operational context of South Sudan, this multi-sited ethnography follows proxies of humanitarian need, established via knowledge production processes of monitoring and assessments in food security programming, to uncover not only the ways humanitarian need is produced, but also the implications.
