Medyada Şiddet Merkezli Kimlik Önermeleri: Tatlı Sert Örneği

Although traditional media tools seem to have taken a backseat in the face of the influence generated by new media, they still remain a significant societal power multiplier. The impact of media on social norms and culture can sometimes lead to positive changes, while at other times it may result in adverse consequences. Mass communication tools such as television and the internet significantly shape social perceptions by addressing topics like violence, sexuality, and abuse. This study aims to analyze the discourses and representations within television program content that legitimize violence, focusing on media's role as a dominant force in shaping and directing society. Specifically, the "Tatlı Sert" daytime program is examined, with an emphasis on the portrayal of crimes associated with the Palu family and the structural characteristics of the discourses employed in the program. The content associated with the Palu family in "Tatlı Sert" is analyzed using a semiotic approach and discourse analysis method. While investigating unresolved cases that await clarification, the language, tone, and behaviors used in "Tatlı Sert" inherently harbor discourses that normalize violence. The research identifies that the portrayal of tragic events involving the Palu family in the program contains deviant discourse forms that can negatively influence societal perceptions. Consequently, topics such as violence, abuse, fraud, and child exploitation are described and conveyed through media in ways that potentially normalize such issues for broader audiences. Thus, the study provides an in-depth examination of how media depictions may contribute to the normalization of deviant behaviors, such as violence and sexuality, for individuals harboring such tendencies.
