Discovering the Function of an Unknown Protein Using Bioinformatics Tools
In this project, we will be analyzing one of the many thousands of unknown protein folds initially discovered as part of the Protein Structure Initiative with the goal to identify its biological function. To solve this problem, we will use various softwares and databases, such as, the Protein Data Bank (PDB), DNA BLAST, InterPRO, DALI, FoldSeek, and CLEAN. Through this project, we hope to be able to add to the collective scientific understanding of proteins through the discovery and identification of the biological functions of known protein folds that have not yet been researched.
