Effects of Admission Fees Mechanisms on Stakeholder Well-Being in Scenic Spots in China’s Lifted-out-of-Poverty Districts

This study aims to establish a pricing mechanism for scenic spots in poverty-stricken regions, aiming to maximize the welfare of all stakeholders. Drawing on the 2018 reform of China's ticket pricing mechanism and Amartya Sen's Capability Approach to development and poverty, an index system for wellbeing measurement will be constructed. Subsequently, based on data for approximately 1,000 A-level scenic spots in 215 lifted-out-of-poverty districts across 23 provinces in China, the authors will explore the effects of ticket prices and supply-demand constraints on the well-being of multiple stakeholders. This study contributes to theoretical construction of tourism equity and efficiency balance in poverty-stricken areas. Managerially, this study generates important implications for designing the admission fee mechanisms based on stakeholder well-being in scenic spots located in poverty-stricken districts.
