Geographical information Systems (GIS) in Library and Information Services

This book systematically presents the application and capabilities of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the field of library and information science, specifically within the library environment, in the form of a research report. It provides a detailed description of the tools and methods used in this area. In the first section of the book, the application of GIS in representing library collections is examined. Subsequently, an effort is made to depict a GIS-based library system through the creation of a preliminary model. Additionally, the application of GIS in representing library networks and providing library services using data from geographic reference databases is also addressed. Finally, other applications of GIS in libraries are explored, and an attempt is made to discuss a new geographic dimension, introducing terms such as virtual browsing and virtual library network.
