Selection Principles and Controlled Entropy Increase in Quantum Mechanics: The QIK Framework
The QIK (Qualitative-Informational-Kinetic) Framework addresses the quantum measurement problem through fundamental selection principles that allow controlled entropy increase. The framework posits three irreducible domains: Q (selection mechanisms and qualitative states), I (mathematical-informational structures), and K (physical-kinetic processes). Central to our approach is the hypothesis that selection principles operate as fundamental physical mechanisms analogous to symmetry-breaking processes, determining which mathematical possibilities in quantum superpositions become actualized outcomes while generating minimal, bounded entropy increase. The QIK Framework generates testable predictions for biological quantum coherence scaling (τ ∝ Φ^0.35), information-sensitive measurement boundaries, and macroscopic quantum effects in complex systems. Unlike existing interpretations that require strict information conservation, QIK allows controlled entropy production (ΔS ~ 10^-30 k_B per selection event), providing natural explanations for cosmic entropy growth, the arrow of time, and dark energy acceleration. The framework maintains consistency with Bell inequality violations, delayed-choice experiments, and quantum interference phenomena while offering a unified account of quantum measurement, biological quantum effects, and cosmological evolution.
