The Power of Mindful Walking: Science, Physiology, and Spirituality
Walking is a fundamental human activity, but when performed mindfully with awareness, rhythm, and intention it becomes a powerful tool for holistic healing. This article explores the impacts of “mindful walking” on the body, mind, and internal systems through the lens of anatomy, traditional Chinese medicine, yoga, Buddhist practices, and neuroscience. Special emphasis is placed on the practice of “walking meditation” (jongkrom), which offers effects comparable to deep meditation and neurological healing.
