The changes in the behaviour of an individual would naturally affect him, his family, and the society. Literature deals with these in different forms and different meanings. From the Sangam period to the present, all literature has been actively involved in revealing the inner self of the individual. The passing away of the old and the introduction of the new are not new to Tamil literature. The Tamil people enriched their lives by listening to traditional songs and stories. Today’s literary works are the result of their desire for the change of their taste. Narrative literatures stand out among these literary works. Due to the inner feelings, the stories emerge innumerable psychological thoughts such as pleasure, sorrow, disorder, and peace found in the hearts of humans are recorded in such stories. Writers have the power to read the minds of their fellow humans. Uma Maheswari is one of the notable writers in the Tamil literary space. Her novel “Yarum Yarudanum Illai” is a good example of the portrayal of women. This study aims to highlight the lives of women in the novel.
