SKEW SECURE: A QR-BASED TRACKING AND PIRACY DETECTION SYSTEM FOR OTT CONTENT DRIVEN SYSTEM

This paper introduces Skew Secure: A QR-Based Tracking and Piracy Detection System for OTT ContentDriven System, a lightweight and practical solution designed to trace and deter piracy on Over-The-Top (OTT)streaming platforms. The system embeds dynamically generated, time-stamped QR codes into the black bars ofvideo frames formatted in a 4:3 aspect ratio, ensuring that the viewing experience remains unaffected. Duringplayback, if the video is screen-recorded—simulating a common form of piracy—the embedded QR codes remainvisible and intact. These QR codes are later detected and decoded from the pirated footage using computer visiontechniques. The extracted data is then cross-referenced with a secure database to accurately identify the usersession responsible for the content leak. It enables content traceability, user accountability, and strengthens theoverall security posture of digital content distribution in OTT ecosystems.
