Políticas municipales de envejecimiento: Los casos de Madrid y Rio de Janeiro
Population ageing is one of the most important challenges facing society in the 21st century. It is a triumph of development and one of humanity's greatest achievements. This situation has led countries to develop actions to respond to the needs of older people and guarantee and increase the autonomy of individuals in an increasingly longer adulthood. In this line, the network of "age-friendly cities and communities" created by the WHO brings together local entities from around the world committed to creating healthy, inclusive and accessible spaces for older people. In this article we will analyze in a descriptive way some of the projects and good practices implemented in two cities: Rio de Janeiro and Madrid. Two cities with many differences, but with a common axis, which is to improve the life of an increasingly ageing population.
