Overactive Bladder: A New Therapy with Beta-Blocker and Alpha-Blocker
This preliminary study proposes a novel pharmacological approach for the treatment of Overactive Bladder (OAB) using a combination of a beta-blocker (atenolol) and an alpha-blocker (terazosin). The objective is to reduce bladder muscle overactivity by modulating adrenergic signaling . This dual therapy aims to improve bladder storage function and reduce urgency symptoms. The hypothesis is supported by physiological mechanisms involving sympathetic neurotransmission, ATP co-release, and smooth muscle contraction pathways. Preliminary personal observations in a limited patient group have shown encouraging results. Further studies are needed to confirm these findings in larger cohorts.
