An Analysis Of All Time Access To Adequate Water Facilities By Bhiwandi, Shahapur, Kalyan, Ambernath And Murbad Taluka Of Thane District: A Comparative Study

Abstract: The current research paper is an attempt to examine the variation in the all-time availability of drinking water facilities in the rural talukas, Bhiwandi, Shahapur, Kalyan, Ambernath and Murbad of Thane district for the period 2008-09 to 2022-23. The study exhibits wide variation in the taluka wise as well as villages wise variation in access to the availability of all time drinking water facility during the study period in the district. The research result shows that 90 percent of the villages in the district had access to the all-time availability of drinking water facilities in 2008-09 which later fell sharply to 68 percent in the next preceding period. The availability to the drinking water facilities further rose to 93 percent in 2010-2011. The access to water facilities by the villages in the taluka in Thane district has not maintained uniformed pattern. For nearly 10 years in the beginning from 2008-2009 to 2016-17 (except for 2009-10), 90 percent of the villages maintained to have all time access to drinking water facilities. But situations became severe thereafter especially after 2018-19 when the access to water by the villages fell sharply to 75 percent in 2018-19 and even further to 64 percent in 2020-21 and thereafter
