Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction in Private Life Insurance Companies in Bangalore city-An Exploratory Study.
Abstract In today’s competitive financial services landscape, private life insurance companies play a pivotal role in ensuring financial protection and long-term savings for individuals. The life insurance sector in India, especially in metropolitan cities like Bangalore, has witnessed a tremendous transformation in recent decades. Liberalization policies, evolving customer expectations, and the entry of private players have redefined the way life insurance services are perceived and delivered. Amidst this evolving market structure, service quality and customer satisfaction have emerged as the most critical differentiators in determining organizational success and customer loyalty in the insurance industry. The Indian life insurance industry, once monopolized by the state-run Life Insurance Corporation of India, opened its doors to private players following the recommendations of the Malhotra Committee Report in 1999. This move catalyzed the growth of several private life insurance companies, including HDFC Life, ICICI Prudential, SBI Life, Max Life, and Bajaj Allianz, among others. These companies brought with them advanced technology, innovative insurance products, and customer-centric strategies, intensifying competition and raising the bar for service quality. Bangalore, a prominent metropolitan city and a thriving hub of IT and financial services, has become a significant battleground for these insurers to attract and retain customers through superior service delivery.
