Influence of Need-Based Training Program on Selected Physical Fitness Variables Among Sixth-Graders
The study aims to find out the effect of the need-based fitness training program on selected motor fitnessvariables among sixth-graders. Participants: 100 sixth-grade school students from Sri RamakrishnaMission Vidyalaya, Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore, were chosen asparticipants. The age of the subjects ranged from 11 to 13 years. Variables: Independent variable: NeedBased Training Program. Dependent variables: Speed, and Upper explosive strength. CriterionMeasures: Speed is measured by a 30 m fly start, and Upper Body Explosive strength is measured by aSoftball throw. Statistical Technique: A paired t-test was used to test the mean difference between the preand post-test. Training Protocol: During the training - 6 weeks, Number of days per week - 2 days,Number of sessions per day - 1 session (1 hour) and Duration of session - 60 minutes. The significantimprovements across motor fitness variables underscore the effectiveness of integrating a need-basedtraining program. It is concluded that the need-based training program significantly enhanced Speed,upper-body explosive strength among sixth-grade school students.
