The Role of Data Stewards in the Implementation of Open Government Data in Austria: Analysis of the Current State and Recommendations for Future Developments.

Project deliverable of the Certificate Course Data Steward 2024/25 at the Postgraduate Center of the University of Vienna, Austria. In my project deliverable, I will shed light on the role of data stewards in implementing Open Government Data in Austria. I will paint the picture of the current state by first describing and analysing official documents with regard to data stewards and Open Government Data and secondly taking a look at the actual implementation of the relevant parts of these documents as well as getting an insight in the current developments and plans of the Austrian Federal Administration by meeting with an official representative responsible for this matter. Based on this analysis and information, I will formulate recommendations for the Austrian Federal Administration, especially the federal ministries and the Federal Chancellery as the coordinating body in the area of Open Data.
