Health and Wellness through Cyclic Meditation: A Pre-Test Post-Test Study
Abstract: In today’s fast-paced world, one of the greatest challenges individuals encounter is a restless and dissatisfied mind, often caused by an unhealthy lifestyle. Poor nutrition, inconsistent sleep schedules, and insufficient physical activity are major contributors to both mental and physical health issues. According to yogic scriptures, three essential pillars of life are emphasized: ahara (nutrition), nidra (sleep), and yoga practices (physical activity). The overstimulation of the sympathetic nervous system has further impaired sleep quality. This study investigates the effects of cyclic meditation—a structured yoga-based intervention—on overall health and wellness using a pre-test post-test design. Participants' wellness levels were measured before and after the intervention. The results, analysed through paired sample t-tests, demonstrated significant improvements in health and wellness.
