Recursive Symmetry Generation and Angular Collapse from ๐ i : A Foundational Analysis
This work presents a rigorous, constructive analysis of the square root of the imaginary unit, i=eiฯ/4\sqrt{i} = e^{i\pi/4}i=eiฯ/4, as the minimal recursive generator of complex phase symmetry on the unit circle. Through a three-part formal structure, we demonstrate that i\sqrt{i}i is not merely an algebraic curiosity but the foundational operator from which the full cyclic group of 8th roots of unity C8โS1C_8 \subset S^1C8โS1 emerges via pure iteration. Part 1 proves that i\sqrt{i}i is the smallest nontrivial unit complex number whose powers generate a closed cyclic orbit, and that it defines the minimal angular increment compatible with recursive closure on the unit circle. Part 2 extends this structure to nested root operations, proving that recursive root compositions are non-commutative and asymptotically form a contractive, aperiodic angular spiral. We classify this behavior as a unique limit structure within classical complex analysis. Part 3 3 formalizes the recursive emergence of group structure from a single transformation. It establishes that all elements of C8C_8C8 arise from first-order iteration alone, illustrating how algebraic symmetry can emerge without predefined sets. The framework avoids introducing any new algebraic extensions, and operates entirely within the language of complex multiplication, roots of unity, and recursive dynamics. This work lays a foundation for generalizing recursive group generation and symbolic orbit structures in future studies.
