Study Of Logistics Management and Cost Benefit Analysis For Green Field Highways

Abstract: This research investigates the factors influencing logistics management in highway construction and aims to rank them accordingly. The study employs the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for Factor Analysis, facilitating the identification and prioritization of these factors. Additionally, a mathematical Linear Programming (LP) model is developed to address transportation issues within the context of the construction project. The LP model is subsequently solved using Conventional Operational Research methods, specifically the Vogel's Approximation Method (VAM), the Modified Distribution Method (MODI), and LP SOLVER. By integrating both qualitative and quantitative approaches, this research contributes to a comprehensive understanding of logistics challenges in highway construction and provides practical solutions through mathematical modeling and operational research techniques. The findings aim to enhance decision-making processes and optimize logistics management strategies in the construction industry.
